great friends
like RICK EPSTEIN
2/2/09
I could write a book. I think I know too many people really. Too many QUALITY people
at that. I am so blessed by God to have lived long enough to make such great friends along my eccentric way. I
feel blessed as well as grateful.

the last game Rick worked for the Austin Toros |
I have known Rick for about 5 years, meeting him at Greg Feste's office to pitch taxi advertising.
The truth is HE called ME. I will never forget that day because on the way there I rear-ended a car in my brand new
Chrysler Crossfire convertible. I was not paying as much attention as I should've been, no doubt.
We went on to NOT do business with Feste's organization but it was the start of keeping
in touch, going to lunches and brain-storming to the point that when Rick started working for the NBA Developmental League
Toros owned by David Khan at that time (Now the San Antonio Spurs), advertising with me was his first choice.
We did a barter-trade and I know that he knows that I lost a ton of money helping them out.
It was worth it. That was the beginning of becoming a friend to the late/great Dennis Johnson and meeting Bill Walton
and his wife for Dennis' Memorial Services. I allowed my private car to take Bill and his wife around and to the service.
I did it for Dennis because I didn't know them like that. I also let our big bus haul the players for that service no charge.
You don't want to know the dollar loss I incurred doing this favor but suffice it to say I know I did the right thing
even though I had to struggle to pay for the extra fuel and drivers. Well worth the memories I assure you.

I just found out that Rick was fired yesterday. That was odd because he built the organization.
Maybe I am next to go? I don't work there but in a sense I do. Well I know I'll be in good company.
